My husband and I have been frequenting quench for years, in fact this was where we went for our first date. However, last night was much different than any other time we went; and we found out why. We did arrive early for our reservation but found that the restaurant was nearly empty which was odd for this location as they were almost always busy. We were promptly seated. Drinks were as good as they always had been but the selection was far smaller and the menu completely changed. After placing our order it took quite a while to get our food, which when received, wasn't the same quality that we expected. Pricing is quite similar to what it used to be, but the food isn't nearly as good. I ordered a medium rare steak which came rare and my husband ordered the same-but well done which came the way I had expected-medium rare. The veggies were overpowered by onions they had mixed in with them which is what I would have expected to be on top of the steak and the veggies seemed to be dry- and Indicator that they may have been frozen veggies. Don't get me wrong- I'm no food expert but this is truly not was I was expecting of this location...and then the bomb dropped. It turns out that this location has changed hands (management) and the new owners have taken it upon themselves to change the things that people loved about this place- the vast menu, the terrific drink selection, and the quality of food. You can have the best cook in the world in that kitchen but if you are cheaping out on ingredients your quality is going to suffer. None-the-less it wasn't terrible- the drinks that were offered were decent and the steak was cooked like you would expect at a chillis- which isn't terrible, however my husband and I have decided at this point to find a new quality restaurant because quench just isn't the same.
We are long time subscribers to Seven Angels Theater and noticed that Quench Cafe offered a free glass of wine if you showed your tickets. We finally went there and we are glad we did. It is a great neighborhood gem. Pleasant atmosphere and efficient staff. Reasonable prices and good food. Now we make eating at Quench Cafe part of day when we go to Seven Angels!'
We went with old friends to have mussels frame Diablo and we're VERY DISAPPOINTED. In the past we've had the mussels appetizers for dinner and we're happy with the choice. NOT TONITE!
Always amazing food and martinis. I enjoy going here with friends and family when I have a little extra money to dpend, but the food, ambiance, and service is worth it.
Went there for an early dinner. The salmon was cooked to perfection. I had loaded beef nachos and they were ok, but rather bland. The boneless buffalo chicken was mild and tough. It seems that they entrees may be better than the snacks!
