When it was time to purchase the truck, I told Ryder that I wanted the problem fixed before I purchased, but they told me that it's out of lease, so no longer their issue. I told them that it originated under lease, and therefore still their issue since they didn't fix it properly when it was still under lease! After months of run-around, I was finally able to get an appointment at the Peabody, MA location, since I did not want to waste time with Waterbury, as my service experience there over the years was mostly a joke. (one time I received the truck back after an oil change and it was down 4 quarts!!!)
Count on the Waterbury, CT branch when my business needs extra trucks. Don, Tom, Charlie and the guys are the best and get us in and out in no time. They are part of our business plan! Couldn't recommend them more highly.
Alittle high in price but a great and friendly place.
While getting the run-around and waiting for the truck to be repaired, Ryder kept debiting my account for lease payments. I asked them to stop, but they wouldn't. I told them they did not have my permission to debit my account, but they continued to anyway. This went on for months, and by the time they stopped debiting, they had about $13k of my money. the buyout price was $8,200.
Do NOT enter a lease agreement with this company, especially if your'e home location is Waterbury. The Peabody, MA location was ALWAYS very good to deal with. Repairs always went well there, but Waterbury and corporate are.... well, you can figure out from my story.
Good people, good rentals
I had a lease truck with this company from 2006 through 2014. I was buying the truck at the end of the lease. Before the lease end, the truck developed a problem. It was brought in for service, but the problem was not fixed. It was an intermittent problem. When I asked the Waterbury service manager why it wasn't fixed, he said that it was road tested and it didn't make the noise. I told him it was intermittent, and he answered, "What am I supposed to do, drive it until it makes the noise?"
Good customer service
Here's the best part: They made me write a check for $8,200 rather than just giving me title to the truck and then refunding me the difference!!! They even agreed with the overage (have e-mails), but still would not release the truck title to me without me sending them an additional $8,200, which I finally did in March. Now it's almost August, and I'm still waiting for most of my money. I've called, e-mails, resorted to foul language (at this point, professionalism is LONG GONE), and NOTHING!!!
